WHY DIAPERS
Little Hands Virginia provides essentials to children newborn to three years old in need in Central Virginia. We focus on the early years, ensuring children are clean, healthy, and cared for from day one.
Providing diapers is a crucial part of our mission. Last year, we served over 10,000 children in our community through our network of over 130 community partners.

BY THE NUMBERS
1 in 2 families in our commuity experience diaper need.
Each month, we distribute an overage of 100,000 diapers.
In 2025, we provided 1.2 million diapers to children across Central Virginia. We also provided another 660,000 diapers to children statewide during the federal government shutdown.
Regular diaper changes help prevent diaper rash, infections, and discomfort, promoting a healthy environment for baby.
Little Hands Virginia’s partnership with the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU began when they noticed an increase in children coming into the emergency department with diaper-need related issues during the pandemic. We continue to stock diapers there today to help prevent diaper need for their patients.
Access to diapers helps parents maintain steady employment, pursue education, and reduce economic strain.
Some of our largest partners are food pantries and other food distribution sites. That's because we want to make sure diapers are accessible by parents when needed most. We meet parents where they are, when they need the support.
An adequate supply of diapers enables children to attend daycare, helping to foster early learning and reaching developmental milestones.
Little Hands Virginia provides diapers to YWCA Sprout Schools and other childcare programs to ensure diaper need doesn't keep a child from attending daycare. Early childhood education significantly boosts a child's chances of pursuing higher education, laying the foundation for a brighter future.
